ITAD 2016 | Spring Edition: ROME / VENICE Qatar University study trip

The University of Qatar architecture students visited Rome and Venice last April 2016 on an arhitecture study trip organized by ITAD; Italy Top Architecture Design Program. It was a full week of in-depth study of the typologies, materials, urban contexts and forms of the ancient, modern and contemporary Italian cities.

ITAD, is registered with the Department of Architecture of University of Sapienza in Rome and University Federico II in Naples, the Ordine degli Architetti P.P.C. di Roma e Provincia (Chamber of Architects of Rome), and networks with public and private sector organizations at national and international level.

The structure of the study trip, 80 % outdoors and 20 % indoors, is aiming to provide to its participants, a thorough analysis of the dominant types of Architecture in Rome and in key sites in Italy, and as such is a freehand drawing and architecture/urban design analysis seminar. The lectures, studies, and sightseeing aim to frame a consolidated knowledge of each particular space. They also reflect both at a theoretical and a project level on the diverse urban strategies that have been realized to embrace each type in time. Students will explore the amazing cities of Rome and Venice with the guidance of prestigious professors, local architects, and ITAD staff in daily walking visits. Streets, spaces and buildings will be discovered by direct experience. Outdoors sessions are dedicated to observational analysis and case studies at the most exciting architectural locations within Rome and Venice.
