Day 15 – Contemporary Architecture

Today we visited the EUR Congress Centre – Fuksas Studio. After a drawing session we moved to the city of Music Auditorium and Maxxi Museum.
The day is dedicated to contemporary pieces of Architecture, built the last decade in Rome by 3 famous architects: Massimiliano Fuksas, Renzo Piano and Zaha Hadid.
Contemporary architecture is usually free of heavy decorations, primarily computer aid drawn, where precision, flaws, and modern materials interrelate to follow the need of the building, and are always thoroughly
incorporated into the existing landscape. The site tour and drawing sessions are dedicated for the comprehension of this new architectural dynamic typology.
Studio Fuksas, led by Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas, is an international architectural practice with offices in Rome, Paris, Shenzhen. You will have the opportunity to have a private construction on site visit into one of the latest built projects: EUR Congress Center.

Students will be visiting the spectacular Santa Cecilia hall in a private tour. Maxxi Museum, de-signed by Zaha Hadid Architects. You will visit the public spaces and if you wish visit the museum exhibition.
