Day 7 summer 2014 – Crypta Balbi’s layers and classical orders

Today’s plan : visit to the Crypta Balbi that is part of the National Roman Museum complex. The excavations of the area are visible, revealing fascinating trasformations and uses of the site which followed the decline of Rome through the Middle Ages, Renaissance up to today. Tour of the Teatro di Marcello and drawing session to understand the classical orders with on site examples under the teachings of  Professor Arch. Simona Salvo, expert in conservation,  from the Department of Architecture, University “Sapienza”. Movie night to watch an Italian famous movie to reveal the culture and social aspects of Italy.
